How to fix ENHANCE 7.1 surround sound headsets that are producing static or distorted audio

If you are experiencing any static or distorted audio when using an ENHANCE 7.1 surround sound headset, please take a moment to make the following adjustments within the sound settings of your Windows 10/11 computer.

  • Navigate to “Settings” through Windows Start Menu.

  • Select “System”

  • Select “Sound” from the left menu.

    • Make sure your headset is selected in the “Output” section.

    • Select “Device properties”

  • On Device properties menu, make sure “Spatial sound” is Off

    • Select “Additional device properties”

  • Click the “Enhancements” tab

  • Click the box to “Disable all enhancements”

  • Click the “Advanced” tab.

    • Make sure the “Default format” is set to 16bit, 4800Hz

    • Make sure the box is unchecked for “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”

  • Click the “Spatial sound” tab

    • Make sure “Spatial sound format” is set to Off
